Unstable nuclei will decay with the extra energy available to it.  In this process as the number of unstable nuclei decrease the probability to see a decay will decrease exponentially.   View these applets about decay and answer the associated questions.

Balonium Decay

This is an applet that shows with random decays the exponential nature of this phenomenon.

         1.  What is the equation that governs this decay?  Is it linear?

Fermi Dirac Distribution

At absolute zero temperature all energy levels up to the Fermi energy are occupied.  As the temperature increases higher energy levels become available.  In fact at any temperature above zero all energies are available but there probability is dependent on the temperature.

        1. Describe what happens to the Fermi Dirac distribution as the temperature increases.

Orbits

This is just the coolest applet that everyone should check out.  No questions.
