Species More Frequent in Riparian Areas

The table below is based on Ruchty (2000), Peterson & McCune (2001a), Rosso et al. (2000b), and McCune et al. (2001). The "trees" column is based sampling trees and shrubs by Peterson & McCune and contrasts riparian areas with uplands. The "shrubs" column is based on intensive sampling of shrubs by Rosso et al. and contrasts riparian areas with uplands. The "Ash" and "Ag" columns are based on Ruchty, who contrasted different kinds of riparian forests, but did not contrast riparian forests with uplands. "Ash" = Fraxinus latifolia swamps as contrasted with other riparian forests. "Ag" = Agricultural corridors as contrasted with other riparian forests. The "McK" column stands for species associated with fish-bearing streams in the middle parts of the McKenzie River watershed, based on McCune et al (2001).
