Responsive Teaching

FIXME Some initial thoughts that will be fleshed out later using the exploring the woods/park analogy.

  • knowing the territory well and make sure you know the boundaries on what you are willing for them to explore
  • knowing what you want to see in the territory - what the highlights are
  • being willing to take any path through the territory
  • connecting those different paths to hit all the highlights
  • understand how to get from what student's express (active listening and translating) to the highlights
  • remind them of the tools that they have and give them new tools as they need them
  • keeping positive
