About This Site
- This site consists of a content directory structure and a set of php programs which present the content
and provide page creation and modification services.
- The content is completely separated from the presentation details, or the "container".
Associated with each content.html file is a modifiable information file which defines the title of the page,
the presentation style to be used and a few more settings. There are defaults for all of the settings, and they
can be modified at any time using the "change appearance" service.
- The content can be modified using the "edit content" service. Previous versions of the content are automatically
archived in a subdirectory of the particular content directory.
- Files to which links are to be made in the content can be uploaded into a subdirectory of the content directory.
This functionality is available under the "manage files" service.
Presentation Suggestions
- Font selection is important for visibility. For Firefox, you can change the size with ctrl- and ctrl+.
You can change the font through the tools -> options -> content -> advanced route. Fonts vary on different platforms,
and the monitor resolution makes a difference too. Compare your current display to this
screen capture from Firefox 2 using the Fedora 7 system default
sans serif font on a 1900x1200 monitor.
- As for choice of browser, Firefox works well. This site is W3C xhtml 1.0 compatible, a standard which IE does not necessarily support
precisely. Appearance using other browsers has not been tested.
