Prerequisites for the Rubber Band Lab

Before performing this lab, students should:

• Have the ability to relate the first thermodynamic law and the thermodynamic identity.
• Be able to interpret partial derivatives.
• Be able to understand and use the symmetry of mixed partials.
• Know how to derive Maxwell's relations using the symmetry of mixed partials.
