I asked the groups to play around with the maple worksheet, to change the distribution of charges and the plotting parameters. I was surprised at how absorbed the students became with this task (especially since only one student per group could control the keyboard). This dove-tailed nicely with the Visualing Equipotential Surfaces for a Quadrupole activity, because students could use Maple to check their answers. (Liz Gire)
