Heat and Temperature Diagnostic
We gave each student a handout to document their current understanding in regards to heat and temperature. The handout read:

Some ice and a little bit of water are placed in a glass beaker. The beaker is placed on a heater. Eventually the ice melts. The heater continues to heat the liquid. Eventually the water begins to boil. The heater continues to heat the boiling water.

Sketch a graph that illustrates your prediction for the way the temperature of the contents of the beaker changes during this process.
