Over the course of the term, the students create several brainstorming webs. By jotting down words and drawing pictures, students recall information that they already know about a subject. Working in pairs or small groups allows students to share their ideas and scaffold their learning. Students are able to view multiple perspectives and different avenues of the subject when they watch and listen to their peers brainstorming web presentations.

For this activity, students were asked to create brainstorming webs about literacy. The instructor asked:

What is literacy? What does it mean to you? How have you learned it in the past? What do you envision doing with your students in the future to teach literacy?
