Discussing Moon Obervations

Have students record moon observations from the last few weeks on the white board. And then have a class discussion with these questions:

- Who saw the full moon? (Monday evening)
- What phase are we in now? (waning gibbous)
- When should we be looking for the moon? (late evening, early morning)
- What phase are we likely to be in then? (3rd quarter is predicted to be on Tuesday)
- What’s special about 3rd quarter? (we’re looking at where we all will be in space in about 3/12 hours)
- When does a 3rd quarter moon rise? (about midnight)
- When is one high in the school (about 6 am)
- When does one set? (about moon)
