Reviewing Thermal Phenomena
Review of the thermal phenomena:
- Objects left for a long time in a room reach the same temperature (room temperature)
- Materials conduct heat energy at different rates
- Styrofoam conducts heat slowly and is an insulator
- Metals conduct heat quickly; metals are conductors
- Conductivity: property of a material that refers to how quickly it conducts heat energy
- Conductivity is different from density; conductivity refers to how fast energy flows through a material. Density refers to how much “stuff” there is in a given volume.
- Hot and cold water reach equilibrium when mixed together.
