Class Information

The required course text is Inorganic Chemistry 5/e (Shriver and Atkins). There may be other assigned or suggested readings, these will be announced as needed.

There are required exercises and problems assigned for each chapter. These won't be graded, but it's very important to work through and understand them. Some will appear in modified form on exams. The "problems" web page has the list of assigned problems. A solutions manual guide will be on reserve at the Valley Library. You may  purchase the solutions manual, if you wish.

There will be additional assigned problem sets for CH 511 students; these will be optional for those in CH 411.

Registered students will be provided with a hidden link to practice exams and solutions, class notes, and other important class resources. You must have access to this page to succeed in this class. If you do not have access by the start of classes, or do not know how to use these resources, please contact Professor Lerner directly.

Course grades in CH411 will be based on 2 midterms (100 pts each) and a final exam (200 pts) For CH511, problems sets (100 pts total) will also count towards the course grade. Since the performance expectations for CH 411 and CH 511 differ, grades will be determined on separate curves.
