Prerequisite:   Math 103, 200, or 202 (or equivalent)

Homework:
Weekly homework assignments will be due Tuesdays at 2 PM.

Group Activities:
There will be many small group activities during the course, especially on Thursdays.

Grades:
Your grade will be based on the best 4 of the following 5 scores (scaled to 100 points each):
Homework (lowest 2 scores dropped), Midterm 1, Midterm 2, Final, Final
For example, if you do poorly on one of the midterms (and well on everything else), then that midterm doesn't count. Note that the final counts twice, so that a poor final still counts (at least) once. Except under unusual circumstances, a missed midterm automatically becomes the score which gets dropped.

Calculators:
Calculators will not be allowed on the midterms or the final. Their use is permitted on the labs and homework, although most of the problems can be solved without one.

Getting Help:
We will hold regular office hours; use them. Appointments can also be made at other times, and you can reach us by email. It is important to get help early if you are having difficulty, especially if you're so stuck that you don't feel able to ask intelligent questions. The mathematics department also runs evening help sessions from 7-10 PM Sunday through Thursday. There should be somebody there who can help with this course, especially Sunday and Monday.

Hotlist:   Announcements,   Homework,   Schedule,   Return to top.
