Course Syllabi

The university provides a list of the minimum syllabus requirements required for submitting a proposal to create a new course. In addition to the usual information about course content and assessment, syllabi are expected to contain information about learning outcomes, a statement regarding students with disabilities, and a discussion of cheating policies. These requirements should be reviewed when preparing course syllabi. Some further information is available below.

BACCALAUREATE CORE courses (MTH 105, 111, 112, 211, 241, 245, 251(H)):

Syllabi for all sections of these courses must list Baccalaureate Core category outcomes verbatim. The approved category outcomes for the Mathematics Skills category are as follows:
Mathematics—Baccalaureate Core Category Learning Outcomes:

1. Identify situations that can be modeled mathematically.
2. Calculate and/or estimate the relevant variables and relations in a mathematical setting.
3. Critique the applicability of a mathematical approach or the validity of a mathematical conclusion.

These outcomes must be identified as Baccalaureate Core outcomes, they must be assessed, and they must be presented as distinct from departmental outcomes on your syllabus.

MyMathLab and eBooks:

This applies to all sections of MTH 103, 111, 112, 241, 245, and 251–255. Students in these classes purchase access codes for online access to their textbook and to the MyMathLab homework environment.

IMPORTANT: For students to gain access to these features, you MUST provide a Course ID, which should be listed on your syllabus. If you have not done this before, you can visit the publisher's website for information about how to get started. Template sections of all of these courses are available to copy.
