ANNOUNCEMENTS
MTH 599 — 2012/2013
- 11/14/12
-
There is no class meeting next week.
-
I am willing to use this time to discuss particular teaching issues; please
let me know if you would be interested.
- 10/4/12
-
As you visit other classes, things to keep in mind are:
-
-
In what way is the classroom you visited similar to, or different from, your
own?
-
Did you observe an interaction or pedagogical strategy that worked
particularly well?
-
Please make sure to confirm with the instructor that it is OK for you to
visit. If you do not plan to stay for the entire class, you should also clear
this with the instructor beforehand.
- 10/3/12
-
In response to the question that arose in class today, OSU has explicit rules
about dogs and other animals on campus. The short version is that no animals
are allowed in any campus building unless they are "guide or companion dogs
accompanying disabled persons". Further details are available
here.
-
OSU provides students with registered disabilities with appropriate
accomodations. But I believe all arrangements must be handled through
Disability Access Services, which
would almost certainly result in advance notice being provided to the
instructor, which in this case means the TA.
- 9/25/12
-
The
Center for Teaching and Learning
offers several workshops
each term related to teaching practice.
-
Participation in one of these workshops will likely count as a "teaching
activity" for the purposes of this seminar, but you should discuss this with
me beforehand.
- 9/24/12
-
The announced text will likely not be used until Winter Term, and in any case
copies to borrow should be available from the department; you do not need to
purchase your own copy unless you want to.
