Using Zoom
MTH 338 — Winter 2022
(last update: 12/31/21)
Below are some comments about using Zoom, in no particular order.
You are encouraged to suggest changes or additions to this list.
-
Class Meetings:
-
This class meets in person! However, remote participation is also possible.
-
-
Zoom can be accessed from within Canvas.
-
You should also be able to go directly to the
OSU Zoom portal
and login with ONID credentials.
-
The Meeting ID should be available within Canvas both as a direct
link (under Zoom) and as a course announcement.
-
Once you have the Meeting ID, you can join from any device running
Zoom, without logging in to Canvas.
However, you will have to login to Zoom using ONID (SSO)
credentials.
-
The same Meeting ID will be used for all class meetings.
-
Please do not share this Meeting ID with anyone else.
-
Class meetings will be recorded, and should appear on Canvas (under
Cloud Recordings) within 24 hours.
-
Office Hours:
-
All office hours will be remote!
-
-
A separate Meeting ID will be used for office hours.
-
The Meeting ID should be available within Canvas both as a direct
link (under Zoom) and as a course announcement.
-
This Meeting ID can be used for both regularly scheduled office hours
and appointments.
-
Zoom Etiquette:
-
-
Please mute your microphone when not speaking.
-
You can unmute your microphone temporarily by pressing the space bar.
-
It is up to you whether to allow video access. However, if your
connection is good enough, it is much appreciated by other
participants (and me!) to be able to see you.
-
Please display your real name (or nickname), rather than a pseudonym.
You can set your name when joining the meeting, or change it in the
participants window.
