WRITING ONLINE

Sharing your mathematical work online often requires writing both text and equations. Here are some ways to do so.

Use a tablet.
Tablet devices are ideal for this purpose, as they normally come with a stylus. Tablets can be connected directly to a Zoom session, or in most cases connected to a desktop and shared via Zoom running on the desktop. They can also connect directly to an online whiteboard. (They can also connect directly to Zoom, although other alternatives are usually better.)
Use a smartphone.
Smartphones can be used like a tablet, although there's not much space to write. Purchasing an inexpensive stylus, with a spongy tip, can dramatically improve performance. Smartphones work best when connected directly to an online whiteboard, rather than through Zoom or a desktop.
Use a desktop.
Yes, it's possible to write with a mouse, but painful. Other input devices can be used, including smartphones. Another alternative is to use the keyboard. Some online whiteboards allow LaTeX for mathematics, so if you're a quick typist and know some basic LaTeX, this can be a good combination.
