SURFACES
MTH 254
We will make frequent use of clear plastic surfaces to illustrate geometric
concepts.
-
Getting a surface:
-
-
Surfaces are available for checkout from Judy in the Honors College
office.
-
Please fill out the information on the checkout list, including your
name, the date, and the color of your surface.
-
Please ensure that the rolled-up plastic mat you get at the same time
has the same color dot in the corner.
-
You will also get a gadget that looks like a compass, called an
inclinometer.
-
Caring for your surface:
-
-
Surfaces are fragile! Please treat them gently.
-
Please do not fold the mats! Roll them up if you are not able to
store them flat.
-
You may write on the surfaces and mats with dry-erase markers only!
-
Please write only on the clear plastic tops of the surfaces, not on
the sides or bottom.
-
You can erase using a soft paper towel, paper tissues, or a soft
cloth.
-
For persistent stains, alcohol works well.
-
Please erase your surfaces and mats after every class.
-
Returning your surface:
-
-
Please return your surface, mat, inclinometer, and other supplies to
the Honors College office at the end of the term.
-
Please enter your initials and the return date on the checkout list.
