You already know about using word processors, spreadsheets and presentation software to create reports and presentation. Creating images to convey chemical information (such as equations and chemical structures) requires specialized software. Here are several options. You should use at least one of these as you construct material for your reports.

ChemDraw from CambringeSoft - as an OSU faculty, staff or student you can get this full package for free and the licenseing is paid for from Technolgy Resource Fund, and contributions from the Departments of Chemistry and Pharmacy at OSU.  This is the same drawing program professionals use! Go to the OSU web page at:  https://softwarelist.oregonstate.edu/software/chemdraw and scroll down to ChemDraw and follow directions to obtain permission to download and install this program.
Or (more easily) go directly to the Perkin Elmer site and follow directions from the Oregon State link area (scroll down). Licensing processes for current versions differs from earlier versions (v. 16 is fine, really).

ACD Labs - ChemSketch 13.0 Freeware ACD/ChemSketch Freeware :: ACD/Labs.com

While ChemDraw is the standard in Organic Chemistry, there are a wide array of commercial and free alternatives. See the Wikipedia page for a comprehensive listing.
