The main classes of photorefractive (PR) organic materials include:
Best performing PR organic materials exhibit two-beam coupling gain coefficients (Γ) of 200-400 cm-1, nearly 100% diffraction efficiencies (η), and PR grating formation times on the order of several milliseconds. A complete description of the strategies of the PR materials design can be found in ReferencesO. Ostroverkhova and W. E. Moerner, Chem. Rev. 104, 3267 (2004). Here, examples of PR polymer composites are given, and most common design strategies are outlined.
