The mid-term exam had two examples of conservation of energy applied using the idea of balanced rates. A major theme of this class is the conservation of energy. It's easy for students to see when it's simply a counting exercise. It should also be easy to see when there are constant rates in balance with each other. They need a little more push in the right direction to recognize this. The mid-term exam had two examples of conservation of energy applied using the idea of balanced rates.
