Chenxi achieved her bachelor degree in applied chemistry from Donghua University in Shanghai, China in 2010 and got her master's degree at Arkansas State University in analytical chemistry in 2012. In the fall of 2013, Chenxi started perusing her Ph.D. at Oregon State University and joined the Loesgen research group. Her research interests are related to separation and characterization of secondary metabolites from bacteria.

In her spare time, she likes playing volleyball and badminton. She is also very good at cooking.
