Motivation: Example Of Scientific Computing's Value

• The physical problem is easy to convert to equations from laws of statics
• It is hard/impossible for a person to find analytic or numeric solution to the equations
• The computer can usually find a numeric solution by trial and error
• The computer will fail if science is bad (unphysical problem, or bad initial guess)
