Physical Systems Which "Create" Sound
All the sound we hear is nothing else than variations in the density of the
air which force the ???? to start to vibrate. Our brain picks up this
vibration, evaluates it and associates sounds with certain vibrations like high
frequencies with fast vibrations. Certain physical systems show some kind of
vibration (=oscillation) and all we have to do is get this vibration to our
ear and if necessary adjust its frequency so that it falls into the range which
the human ear can register approximately 20Hz to 20kHz.
Here all we did is create a datafile of the physical
system and used our favorite sound converter
to create the soundfiles you can play on your computer.
harmonic oscillator (40k)
realistic pendulum (40k)
anharmonic oscillator(40k)
particle in square well potential with driving force (40k)
This procedure can also be used if we are dealing with a dynamical system,
for example
a pendulum with growing amplitude
