Ph314, Spring 2009, Homework Assignments #3 and #4 combined.

Homework 3: K. Krane, "Modern Physics", Chapter 2 - Problem 21, 22, 30, 33.
Please solve any two problems from the above list of five. Each problem is priced 2 pts. Please turn in only two solutions.
(I encourage you to choose Problem 21 as one of thw two; it's a good exercise for practicing integrals. But keep in mind that that there are indefinite and definite integrals. In the past years many students taking my Ph314 courses failed to solve this problem correctly because they used the incorrect integral type. If you have a problem with deciding, I would encourage you to pay me a visit during my OHs. I will be more than happy to help you, and always keep in mind -- "pointwise", Dr. Tom's help is "free of charge", you may only gain points because your solution surely will be OK -- but you will never loose any points).

In addition, please derive Equation (2.41) (page 46) starting from Equation (2.36) (page 45). Price: 1 pt.

Homework 4: K. Krane, "Modern Physics", Chapter 3 - Problem 3, 9, 17, 19, 25.
Please solve any three problems from the above list of five. Each problem is priced 2 pts. Please turn in only three solutions.

Tuesday, April 28 is the deadline for turning in this combined homework. As with Homework 2, please leave it in Room 232 when you come to do your lab exercise.
