Topics:
We will cover chap 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 if time permits.

Course Objectives:
Single species populations in discrete and continuous time, metapopulations, age structured populations.
Interacting species: predator-prey, competition, metapopulations.
Diseases: SIS, SIR, disease control.
Molecular and cellular biology: biochemical kinetics, metabolism: activation/inhibition and cooperation.
Motion in biology: chemotaxis, reaction-diffusion equations, traveling waves.

Grading:
Course grades will be determined by your performance on several homework assignments and 3 exams.
Late HW is not accepted.
Note: The final exam will be in class on April 26 (this is the last day of classes), not in the final exam week.
The weights are: 40% for all HW, 20% per exam.

Grading Scale (maximum of 100%):

A: [>=85%]   B+: [76-84%]     B: [70-75%] C+: [65-69%]
C: [60-64%]   D+: [55-59%]     D: [50-54%]    E: [<50%]

University policy on accommodations for students with disabilities:
"Students requesting classroom accommodation must first register with the Dean of Students Office. The Dean of Students Office will provide documentation to the student who must then provide this documentation to the Instructor when requesting accommodation."
