Three semesters of calculus.
A transition course (such as MAS3300 or MHF3202) is recommended as preparation.

S.H. Friedberg, A.J. Insel, L.E. Spence: Linear Algebra (4th edition, Prentice Hall).
Topics:
We will cover the first 6 chapters of the text.
Grading:
Course grades will be determined by your performance on:
2 exams (each worth 100 points) and 1 final exam (worth 200 points).
The final exam is in our classroom on Friday April 29 between 10:00 and 12:00.
Calculators are not allowed (and not needed) on exams.
There will not be any make-up exams!!!
Homework:
Homework will be assigned weekly but will not be collected. However, students are urged
to work these problems.
This is a proof-oriented course. Learning to write rigorous proofs requires patience and
lots of practice -especially if this is your first time.
Since there are 4 periods per week, we can devote (part of) 1 day per week to
discussions of solutions to some of the problems.
