Centrifugal and Coriolis Forces

  • Review/repeat the SWBQ for the 2-d case
  • Centrifugal force points toward equator
  • Centrifugal force has an “antigravity” component
  • Coriolis force points right (relative to the direction of motion) in Northern Hemisphere and left in the Southern Hemisphere.
