We started with a small group activity calculating
* dr vector in curvilinear coordinates.
Then we calculated
* the electrostatic potential due to a ring of charge.
This calculation is just one activity in a [[:whitepapers:sequences:emsequence:start|sequence]] that allows students to build up their understanding of how to do complicated integrals on step at a time.
We ended with a discussion of what the electrostatic potential looks like geometrically and how we might graph it. (See the graphs on the powerpoint presentation above.)
