Magnetic Resonance (40 minutes)

sprabimagneticresonance.ppt (Slides 9-16)

  1. The magnetic field has both a z-component and a component rotating in the relative xy-plane.
  2. The Hamiltonian has a time dependence.
  3. The calculation requires the viewer to solve the Schrodinger equation in a rotating frame to remove the time dependence of the Hamiltonian.

Providing the slides in a handout form is often beneficial for students so they can discuss and review the calculations at a later time and at their own pace.
