The magnetic field has both a z-component and a component rotating in the relative xy-plane.
The Hamiltonian has a time dependence.
The calculation requires the viewer to solve the Schrodinger equation in a rotating frame to remove the time dependence of the Hamiltonian.
Reassure them that this topic involves more complex calculations than they have seen before, but it's nothing they cannot do. A good strategy is to consistently look for bra-ket notation that we have seen throughout the course; it's easier to keep track using this representation than the matrix notation (although the matrix representation is necessary for the calculations).
Providing the slides in a handout form is often beneficial for students so they can discuss and review the calculations at a later time and at their own pace.
