Emily asked the students, “What would you want the elementary age students to learn?”
Their thoughts were:
* We could talk about magnets repelling... possibly bring the treys with the iron filings so we could show them a magnetic field. Or we could simply give the students two magnets so they could feel magnets attracting and repelling.
* We could have one station with a pile of paperclips and have the students use a bar magnet to pick them up and discuss neutral objects.
* We could…text/html2012-02-21T09:22:48-08:00days:winter2012daybyday:winter2012day13:daily_schedule

The students had time to finish up their websites about magnetism, electricity, and electromagnetism. They included new information about circuits and motors.text/html2012-02-21T11:25:01-08:00days:winter2012daybyday:winter2012day13:reflections

Wants to Know: “I'm wondering what we'll do in the elementary school-- I don't want to get there and be unprepared.”

Students came up with these powerful ideas when describing the “Flow Model:“
* Direction of the flow doesn't matter.
* The current will always take the path of least resistance.
* Series circuit is dimmer than a parallel circuit when connected to directly to the battery.
* Current is conserved. Energy is lost. The amount of current coming leaving a battery is the same amount coming back into the battery.
* If there is less resistance, there is more current.
* A parallel ci…text/html2012-02-21T09:17:06-08:00days:winter2012daybyday:winter2012day13:start
