9:30-10:00 Exploring Light and Shadow Phenomena III
Small groups generate a question about the moon to explore
Go on a field trip to sidewalk if sunny to ‘observe’ the sun
Bring sky journals, observe moon is not visible
also bring pinhole envelopes, meter sticks, pencils to record diameter of the Sun’s projection;
(If not sunny, use lamps without shades inside, but do review first)

If sunny: how big is the sun?
If not sunny: how represent pinhole phenomena mathematically?

After develop pinhole formula, then pass out sun projections from earlier classes and use to estimate how big is the sun?)
