As class began today, Emily asked the students to generate any questions that they may have about sound. She gave them some time to think independently before sharing their questions with the rest of the group. They had a little trouble getting started but after taking some time to quietly think, each of the students was able to come up with a few questions, which included:
• What is sound?
• What makes sound?
• How is sound heard by different people?
• How can we simplify the teaching of sound?
• What is the vocabulary that is used in regards to sound (and definitions)?
• What are the loudest and softest sounds ever recorded?
• What do we use to measure sound?
• Is sound something we can touch?
