First, we asked the students to think about experiences in their past in which they learned something about light. We also asked them to think about what made those experiences memorable and exciting for them– in other words, what aspects were present that helped foster their science learning?

Learning outside; watching movies/tv; making observations/exploring; visiting OMSI; learning in class; watching change over time; family learning; playing around; going on field trips; doing it oneself - hands-on; welcoming personal curiosity; teaching; reading. These ways of teaching and learning science will be modeled throughout the term.
