Appointment is anticipated at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor rank. Tenure track will be offered at 1.0 FTE. The appointee will be expected to generate grants and/or contracts for any appointment during the summer months. We seek faculty candidates with primary research interests in secondary science teacher education, undergraduate STEM education, or educational technology in learning sciences. Successful candidates for both positions would be expected to * participate in the mathematics content preparation programs for K-12 teachers (previous experience in K-12 settings is desirable, but not required) * have a Ph.D. in mathematics education or related field with clear research focus in mathematics education * have a strong mathematics content background (minimum: Masters degree in mathematics) sufficient to teach a broad range of mathematics courses at the undergraduate level * teach special topics courses in mathematics education at the graduate level * conduct research and engage in scholarly activity in mathematics education, including publications * participate in advising of graduate degree candidates. The mathematics education research specialty is open, and could include research on preservice or inservice teacher development, curriculum, and either research on undergraduate mathematics education or K12 students’ mathematics learning. For at least one of the two positions, there is special interest in a candidate whose research program could include work that would inform the department’s efforts to serve students making the transition from high school to college mathematics, and from lower division mathematics to STEM majors.
