UNDERGRADUATE LAB DEVELOPMENT AND INSTRUCTION INTERNSHIP
The purpose of the lab development and instruction internship is to provide students with practical experience in developing of experiments and instructing students in undergraduate laboratories.
The course instructor will serve as the faculty mentor for the Intern and determine the grade based on the student's performance.
The Intern will enroll in CH 410 (section 011)
The normal load for three credits of CH 410 is 90 - 100 hr/ term.
Student interns will be provided written and oral feedback on performance.
Enrollment in the above course is restricted by the course instructor.
Two types of positions are available
1) designing and testing of new labs
Assistance in preparation of materials for an undergraduate chemistry course. Duties will vary with the course, but might include design and testing of new experiments for use in teaching laboratories, preparation of review materials, or assembly and maintenance of web pages. In most cases, assistance will be in a course which the student has taken.
2) laboratory instruction Assistance in instruction of an undergraduate chemistry course. Duties will vary with the course, but might include help with lab supervision, provision of tutorial or review sessions, or participation in grading activities. It is expected that the student will be thoroughly familiar with the course in question, in most cases by having taken it. This is not a teaching internship in which the duties include conducting normal recitations.
