Eighth Annual Undergraduate Research Poster Session
Thursday, June 3, 2004 - 1:30 - 3:30 pm
Gilbert Addition 313
Department of Chemistry - Oregon State University

Please submit your final abstract to Dr. Pastorek no later than Wednesday,  June 2 using the web form below.

Poster boards should be about 2 ft by 3 ft.  Limited number of computers available for graphics presentations.  We now have a color printer in room 311 that will copy to 11 X 17.  For more information on what makes a good poster presentation see Chapter 2 in The ACS Style Guide, 2nd Edition, Janet S. Dodd, Ed., 1997.  See also overview of components for a scientific poster at: http://www.ncsu.edu/project/posters/

Sample Abstract:

SURFACE PLASMON RESONANCE STUDY OF THE SELF-ASSEMBLY OF MODIFIED CYCLODEXTRINS. K.J. Stine, V.T. D’Souza, A.R. Khan, D.P. Parazak, and D.M. Andrauskas, Department of Chemistry, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri 63121

Self-assembled monolayers of molecules capable of molecular recognition have potential applications in chemical sensor technology. Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides which are capable of forming host-guest complexes with small organic molecules. The formation of self-assembled films on gold and silver of several cyclodextrin derivatives with sulfide or thiol moieties has been followed using surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The SPR response of the films to organic solutes will also be presented.

ABSTRACT FORM.  Please be brief- no more than 100 words. SINGLE SPACE.  Title of paper should be ALL CAPS; author(s) listed by first name, middle initial, last name; indicate business address w/zip code.
