Pre-labs can be found at the beginning of each specific experiment in the laboratory manual that was purchased during check-in. You should fill out the pre-lab section before you come to the recitation on the day of that experiment. You may be asked questions from the pre-lab on the recitation quiz. The pre-lab questions will be included in the Laboratory Assignment that is turned in as you leave lab.
During each laboratory period, you will be making entries in your lab manual where comments, observations, measurement data, and so forth are requested. At the end of each experiment, or perhaps within the procedure, there will be questions to answer. At the end of the laboratory period, as you leave lab, you will remove all the pages for that given experiment, staple them together, put identifying information on the first page, and turn the whole Laboratory Assignment in to your Teaching Assistant.
The Laboratory Assignment will be graded by your Teaching Assistant and returned to you later. The grader will award up to 4 points for "completeness" (no missing pages, answers, observations, and the like) and 3 points for each of two specific items from the Assignment (such as specific questions, comments, data entries, conclusions, or calculated result). Each graded Laboratory Assignment will be worth a maximum of 10 points (4 + 3 + 3). You should return the graded Laboratory Assignment to your 3-ring Lab Manual so you may refer to it while preparing for examinations.
Each week of Laboratory, Check-in, the eight experiments, and Check-out, will have a graded Laboratory Assignment. The total score possible for the Laboratory will be 100 points. You must pass the laboratory portion of this course in order to pass the entire course.
