Final Exam Objectives

The Final Exam Objectives are the Exam 1 and Exam 2 Objectives and these:



1 The student will be able to draw line structure of, name, write chemical formulae for, write condensed structural formulae for, and classify alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, and alcohols.
2 The student will be able to draw line structure of, write chemical formulae for, write condensed structural formulae for, and classify carboxylic acids, amines, ethers, esters, amides, ketones, and aldehydes (but not name).
3 The student will be able to discuss the relative reactivity of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alcohols, carboxylic acids, amines, ethers, esters, amides, ketones, and aldehydes.
4 The student will be able to write balanced reactions for the complete combustion of hydrocarbons.
5 The student will be able to discuss and write balanced reactions for condensation reactions and sketch reactants and products.
6 The student will be able to discuss and write balanced reactions for hydrolysis reactions and sketch reactants and products.
7 The student will be able to discuss and write balanced reactions for addition reactions (of alkenes) and sketch reactants and products.
8 The student will be able to discuss and write balanced reactions for substitution reactions (of alkanes) and sketch reactants and products.
9 The student will be able to discuss fats.
10 The student will be able to sketch, identify, and discuss amides, aldehydes, ketones, ethers, carboxylic acids, amines, and esters.
11 The student will be able to discuss and identify chiral carbons.
12 The student will be able to discuss monomers and polymers.
13 The student will be able to predict the products of polymerization.
14 The student will be able to discuss amino acids.
