Bongkotrat Thanaussavadate (Visiting Scholar) [2018]

Bongkotrat Thanaussavadate was born (1993) and raised in Nonthaburi, Thailand. Since high school, her education has been generously supported by a scholarship provided by The Development and Promotion of Science and Technology Talent Project (DPST), Royal Government of Thailand. She received a BS degree in Chemistry from Kasetsart University (Thailand) in 2016, and remained at that institution to pursue an MS degree in Organic Chemistry, which she expects to complete in 2019. During her undergraduate days, she spent three months as an exchange student at the Dept. of Chemistry at National Taiwan University, Taiwan R.O.C., working on the synthesis of trifunctional bioconjugate molecules for protein kinase detection under the supervision of Prof. Lee-Chiang Lo. Her undergraduate and graduate research work at Kasetsart University have been carried out under the supervision of Prof. Pitak Chuawong and focuses on the synthesis of 2,3-diarylindoles and their target evaluation in cancer cells. Bongkotrat spent six months in the Blakemore Research Group as a Visiting Scholar during summer/fall 2018. While at OSU, she investigated the total synthesis of chalaniline B, a bioactive xanthone 'unnatural' natural product discovered by Prof. Sandra Loesgen's laboratory.
