Subhash Tanpure (Graduate Research Assistant) [2016 - 2021]

Subhash Tanpure was born in Maharashtra, India. He completed BS (2011) and MS (2013) degrees in Chemistry from the University of Pune. During his MS work, Subhash worked on a number of research projects with Dr. Vivek D. Bobade and he also spent time as a summer research scholar at the CSIR - National Chemical Laboratory, Pune with Dr. D. S. Reddy where he synthesized heterocyclic compounds and studied their biological activity. Following his MS work, Subhash joined the CSIR - National Chemical Laboratory as a research project assistant with Dr. Santosh B. Mhaske. During his stay at the CSIR - National Chemical Laboratory, Subhash developed three novel radical based methodologies and investigated their applications. In 2016, Subhash joined Oregon State University as a graduate student. His work in the Blakemore Research Group, which led to a PhD degree in 2021, focused on the stereospecific synthesis of conjugated trisubstituted alkenes (styrenes and 1,3-dienes) by eliminative cross-coupling of stereodefined sp3-hybridized carbenoids and the application of this chemistry to the synthesis of biologically active target molecules.
